Abstract: A logical equivalent circuit model is defined for in-line, along the waveguide cavity, varactor - tuned Gunn oscillators applying methods of electromagnetic theory and circuit analysis . The model can be used to analyse the Gunn oscillator’s frequency performance. With the results of CAA, together with the requirements for the millimeter wave signal source, the in line, along the waveguide cavity varactor tuned Gunn oscillator can be designed. The oscillator’s performance as finally - obtained is : with mechanical tuning bandwidth in excess of 1 GHz, and with varactor - tuning bandwidth in excess of 550MHz , output power in excess of 75 mW. These oscillators possesses good stabillity and reliability , and are suitable for engineering applications .
