Abstract: Zhang Xuecheng’s thoughts on the inclusion of genealogies into local records are one of the important components of his local records theories.Zhang Xuecheng advocated the setting up of Tables of Clans in local records to particularly record genealogical information of clans in a certain place,so as to get the effects of maintaining harmony among members of the clans,establishing styles of genealogy compilation,and providing references for government decision-making.In specific compilation practices,Zhang Xuecheng proposed constmctive views on the compilation of Tables of Clans in local records from aspects such as inclusion standards for personalities,compilation structure and sequencing of clans,and textual and compilation styles.Zhang Xuecheng’s thoughts on the inclusion of genealogies into local records innovated styles for traditional local records and left important impact in the history of local records studies.
