Abstract: Through the flaw detection of the metallographic, electron microscope observation of unqualified flat die steel D2, it is found that the fundamental reason of unqualified is the coarse carbide fragmentation. Analysis of coarse carbides and the cause of its fragmentation are taken out to reduce pouring temperature, improve forging heating and deformation process, and control total time of blooming, and the flaw detection qualified rate of the die steel increased from 72.6%to 94.5%.
