Abstract: This paper has investigated the transverse embedded crack propagation behavior of T welded joint based on fracture theory and finite element analysis. Numerical simulation of embedded crack propagation shape change under biaxial tension load has been established. The results show that the T welded joint transverse embedded crack shapes change into near circular crack with regardless of embedded location and initial crack shape. The propagation rate of crack embedded in plate beneath the weld toe is faster than that embedded in weld.
