The Effect on SOD and MDA in Colonic Mucosal Tissue of Ulcerative Colitis Rat Treated by Wumei Pill and Its Disassembled Prescriptions

Abstract: Objective:By observing the regulating effect of Wumei Pill and its disassembled prescriptions on SOD and MDA in colonic mucosa tissue of ulcerative colitis(UC)rats,to investigate formulation mechanism of Wumei Pill and find out a new approach for the treatment for UC. Methods:Healthy adult wistar rats of male and female of 40 animals each were randomly divided into 8 groups,which is the normal group,model group,the western medicine group,Wumei Pill group,Xinkai Kujiang group,Xinkai group,Kujiang group and tonic group.After corresponding treatment SOD and MDA in colonic mucosa tissue was detected. Results:Compared with the model group,SOD level of each treating group increased significantly(P<0.01),and MDA level of each treating group decreased significantly(P<0.01).Each SOD level of the western medicine group,Wumei Pill group and Xinkai Kujiang group which increases significantly(P<0.01)according to Xinkai group,Kujiang group and tonic group has no significant difference(P>0.05). Each MDA level of the western medicine group,Wumei pill group and Xinkai Kujiang group which decreases significantly(P<0.01)according to Xinkai group,Kujiang group and tonic group has no significant difference(P>0.05). Conclusion:Wumei Pill can treat UC by reducing colonic mucous membrane lipid peroxidation;the characteristic of formulation mechanism of Wumei Pill is the coordination of pungent drugs and bitter dugs.
