Textual Study of ZHANG Zhongjing’s Books Revised by the Bureau for Revising Medical Books in Northern Song Dynasty

Abstract: The Bureau for Revising Medical Books was a temporary agency established by the official of Northern Song Dynasty in 1057,the 2nd year of Jiayou of Emperor Renzong to revise and publish ancient medical books.11 medical books had been revised and edited by 13 officers in 12 years until 1069,the 2nd year of Xi Ning of Emperor Shen Zong.Among the books,ZHANG Zhongjing’s books were revised into Shanghan Lun,Jingui Yuhan Jing,Jingui Yaolue Fang,which have become the final version until today.This paper has textually studied the revising situation of ZHANG Zhongjing’s books by the Bureau for Revising Medical Books in 3 parts:the process,the methods and the contents. Conclusions:ZHANG Zhongjing’s books were not included in the original plan of the Bureau for Revising Medical Books;The books was mainly revised and written the preface by Song qi;The revising process had lasted for about 9 years;Four revising methods of Dui Jiao,Ben Jiao,Ta Jiao and Li Jiao were used.The books were revised in 5 aspects:the Phonetic,the interpretation,avoiding repeat,non-suspect or no seeing. Wealthy medical knowledge,super level and cautious attitude of the officers were demonstrated in revising process.
