Abstract: Aiming at thin-wall and large size circular structure characteristics of slewing bearings,a finite element a-nalysis model for local defect on inner ring raceway is built by using ABAQUS.The operating process for slewing bear-ing is numerically simulated based on explicit dynamic finite element algorithm. The pulse waveforms of vibration re-sponses are obtained under different defect sizes, and the influencing mechanism of damage sizes on slewing bearing is explored. The research results show that the finite element simulation analysis can accurately reflect local damage on raceway surface of slewing bearing. The increase of defect length has the largest effect on operation of slewing bearing and the effect of height is negligible under the same conditions. The analytical results have important guiding signifi-cance in developing raceway damage monitoring system for slewing bearing.
