Numerical Research on Gas-Solid Two Phase Flow and Erosion in Elbows

Abstract: The elbow is a main kind of irregular parts in the pulverized coal pipes and the flue pipes in power plants.The gas-solid two phase flow formed by gas and pulverized coal or ash particles,which has a high Reynolds number,causes lots of problems such as complicated flow characteristics,larger resistance and serious erosion.In this article,both the Eulerian multiphase model and the discrete phase model combined with the particle-wall collision model and the erosion model were respectively adopted to carry out the 3D simulation of the gas-solid two phase flow and erosion properties in elbows.By the analysis of the effect of structure parameters such as the ratio of curvature and diameter,the turning angle and the sectional shape on the resistance loss and the erosion rate,the optimal structure of elbow was proposed.
