Developing Heterogeneous Drag Model for Fluidization Process and Its Generalization

Abstract: Drag model play an important role in the simulation fluidization process.The existing heterogeneous drag model cannot apply in various operating conditions well.Based on the Energy Minimization Multi-scale theory(EMMS),a new heterogeneous drag model—QC-EMMS model was proposed through deeply recognizing the characteristics of meso-scale structure.A heterogeneity factor,Ψ,was introduced to represent the cluster density varying with conditions.The overall slip velocity Reynold’s number,Re~*,was used to represent the macroscopic overall heterogeneity.The QC-EMMS model was generalized through relating Ψ with Re~*.Experimental verification show that QC-EMMS model has a high simulation accuracy and good mesh independence.
