The Experimental Investigation on the Diesel Spray Characteristics With Various Injector Nozzle Parameters

Abstract: Visual high pressure constant volume vessel has been used to investigate the common spray characteristics and the near-nozzle breakup characteristics under different injector diameters with an experimental method in this paper.The results show that:for the macroscopic spray the flow resistance decreases with the increase of the injection pressure and the injector diameter which would lead to the increase of the penetration acceleration.The images captured at the near-field with the micro-lens show that the jets begin to lose stability and forming the coherent structure at the surface.The near-field spray angle increases with the injector diameter.With the increase of length-diameter ratio,the flow resistance will be reduced while the turbulent energy will be enhanced,the normal velocity of the spray will be correspondingly raised,and the cone angles in the near-nozzle field will be resultantly expanded.
