A research on collision process of arresting hook and cushioning properties of the buffer

Abstract: A dynamical collision and rebound model of arresting hook when carrier-based aircraft roll has been established. A discussion of impact of the roll angle and gliding angle in collision process has been made,and then this article analyzed the impact of initial infl ation pressure and orifi ce size of arresting hook buffer. The results show that with the roll angle increasing,the arresting hook’s transverse force surge, and with the gliding angle increasing,its rebounding angular velocity and suffered impulse increase linearly. Decreasing the orifice size and increasing the initial inflation pressure can reduce the bouncing height and down time of arresting hook,and then improve its blocking performance.
