Abstract: In the 1930s,the Suiyuan province was not a province that lacked grains. The per capita possession of grains was higher than the national average level, and it was a province of a relative food surplus, which was a result of the sparse population and vast land natural conditions. This also benefited from the farmers’ hard working. Nevertheless, the grain per capita in each county bureau is very uneven. The population of the food deficit counties accounts for all 20% of the whole population. In the province,Wuchuan,Kueisui,Liangcheng were the three typical demand centers, and Salaqi,Anbei, and Fengzhen were the three supply centers. The grains between the supply and demand area were circulated, which adjusted the possession of the unbalance, and ensured the province’s food safety. Meanwhile,Baotou and Kueisui were two grain trading centers, and Salaqi became the transportation center.
