Modification of Spalart-Allmaras Model for Shock-Wave/Turbulent Boundary Layer Interaction Flow

Abstract: The transport property of turbulent kinetic energy was investigated by analyzing the data of direct numerical simulation(DNS) of the interaction of an oblique shock with a supersonic turbulent boundary layer at Mach 2.25.It was found that the turbulent kinetic energy is amplified by the adverse pressure gradient in separation zone.The pressure gradient was non-dimensionlised with local density,velocity and molecular viscosity.The Spalart-Allmaras(S-A) model was modified with this dimensionless parameter by introducing it into production and dissipation terms in the model.Simulation in the supersonic oblique shock-wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction and compression ramp flow shows that the modification for S-A model improves the predictive accuracy for simulating the shock-wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction.
