Abstract: In China, the state and the society have been traditionally bonded together. In planned economy, the state governed and manipulated the whole society, while in marketing economy, the state has gradually delegated power to the society and the society has gained more public functions. Different interpretation modes have thus been put forward at these different periods regarding the relationship between the state and the society. Researchers have combined the historic experience and current development to structure a localized development mode of relationship between the state and the society, attempting to transform from the pattern of“strong state, weak society”to“strong state, strong society”. In the future, the development of relationship between the state and the society in China will be a two-way process. Only when the state and the society cooperate with, supervise over, and excise positive interaction and cultivation between each other, can the target of economic growth and social development be reached, and the neo-relationship of the state and the society be realised.
