Abstract: The connotation of family farm was defined from operator qualification, number of employees and operation scale, and then the property differences between family farm and professional large landlord, hired farm, cooperative and agricultural enterprises were analyzed.Diversified development of land circula-tion, transfer of rural surplus labor, development of new type professional farmers, improvement of rural social service system, increase of policy support were the driving factors for development of family farm.The develo-ping scale and current situation of family farm were expounded, and the experience and enlightenment in do-mestic and overseas were summerized, then the countermeasures and proposals for its development were put forward.
