Abstract: Objective: To explore the clinical effect of vacuum assisted closure (VAC) on pressure ulcer (PU). Methods: 30 patients with stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ PU wounds were divided into the experimental group (n=15) and the control group (n=15). The experimental group was treated with VAC, while the control group was treated with dressings. PUSH Tool 3.0 was used to evaluate the wounds situation and the full-thickness skin tissues were selected from every case for HE staining of tissue at pre-treatment, the 7th day, 14th day after treatment between the two groups. Results:With the treatment process developed , the wound surface became to be edema and exudates decreased gradually as well as more and more fresh granulation formation and epithelialization of the wound edge in the experimental group. The PUSH Tool scores in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group (7.40±0.27 VS 12.53±0.22,P<0.01). Conclusion: Compared with new dressings, VAC is a more effective method to facilitate healing of pressure ulcer.
