Abstract: The paper analyzes the mechanism of resonance overvoltage of the 500 kV parallel transmission lines on same characteristics tower when one of the lines having a shunted reactor , the resonant voltage and current after disappearance of excitation power source and the influence of neutral point small reactor of shunted reactor .The simulation and calculation results of a double-circuit transmission line show that serious resonance overvoltage occurs in the proposed example due to the parameters match. The inhibitory effect of neutral point small reactor on series resonance generated by the coupling between two lines is limited. The steady-state voltage, over-voltage, secondary arc current, reactive power balance are also studied when put the line into operation without shunted reactor. Finally, for the same tower transmission line parallel high resistance to resonance over voltage problem, the paper puts forward the coping strategies to the resonance overvoltage produced by shunted reactor on 500 kV parallel lines on same tower during the planning and design stage and commissioning stage .
