Expression and significance of Treg in nasal polyps and chronic sinusitis

Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of Treg -related transcription factor ( Foxp3 ) and cytokine transforming growth factor ( TGF-β1 ) in patients with chronic sinusitis .Methods The immunohistochemical method (Elivision) was used to detect the expression levels of Foxp3 and TGF-β1 in 20 cases of nasal polyps tissues,15 cases of polyps surrounding tissues ,20 cases of ethmoid sinus mucous membrane tissues of chronic sinusitis and 10 cases of normal inferior turbinate mucous membrane tissues ( control group ) .Results The expression levels of Foxp 3 in nasal polyps tissues were significantly lower than those in the other three groups ( P <0.05),there were significant differences between any two groups ( P <0.05),except between polyps surrounding tissues and ethmoid sinus mucous membrane tissues ( P >0.05). The expression levels of TGF-β1 in nasal polyps tissues were lower than those in control group , however , which in ethmoid sinus mucous membrane tissues of chronic sinusitis were higher than those in control group .There were significant differences between any two groups ( P <0.05),except between polyps surrounding tissues and ethmoid sinus mucous membrane tissues ( P >0.05).Conclusion Foxp3 plays an important role in the pathogenesis and development of nasal polyps ;TGF-β1 plays an important role in different types of chronic sinusitis .
