Abstract: This article compares Jichang Garden located in Wuxi and Xiequ Garden in Beijing through examining how the laws of composing Shanshui poems and structuring Shanshui paintings had been applied in their designs.Eight pairs of key characters(eight Chinese words)are observed throughout the course of comparing,in order to manifest the superiors and inferiors of these two gardens.Based on the analysis on the eight aspects,this article clarifies the laws of garden making through which the Chinese repose poetics in their daily lives.
