Influence of H2S critical value of shaft reduction gas on sulphur content in sponge iron

Abstract: Based on analyzing sulfur behavior in direct reduction process of shaft furnace,and combining with classical thermodynamic theory,Gibbs free energy for the reversible reaction of H2S+FeH2+FeS was calculated.The critical relationship between H2 S content of reduction gas and sulphur content of sponge iron was obtained.On this basis,H2 S critical values for shaft furnace gases,such as coke oven gas,coal gasification gas and COREX gas were discussed.Results show that by controlling the ratio of H2 and H2S in reduction gas,sulfur in H2 S could be prevented from entering the solid phase of sponge iron,which can ensure the quality of sponge iron.
