Study on hearth erosion based on tinny water temperature difference monitoring

Abstract: To investigate the reason for that brick temperature at hearth sidewall was as high as 900 ℃ while thermal load values at the second segment were mostly lower than10 000 W/m2 during the campaign of No.3 blast furnace in Linggang,the factors affecting heat transfer and erosion of hearth sidewall were studied by heat transfer modeling.By means of wireless digital monitoring system for detecting tinny water temperature difference and wireless adsorption measurement for shell temperature,accurate monitoring on hearth safety is realized.Results show that severe erosion but low temperature difference is mainly caused by big heat resistance due to too thick filling layer between bricks and cooling staves at hearth sidewall.Adjustment of cooling water rate has little effect on heat resistance hearth.Stabilization of smelting intensity and improvement of hearth permeability are effective measures for restraining hearth erosion.
