Abstract: Under acidic conditions, using sodium nitrite as the catalyst and oxygen as the oxidant, polyferric sulfate can be produced by one-step process. The practice has proved that: under closed condition, after 110 kg 98% concentrated sulfuric acid and one ton ferrous sulfate with total iron content of 20% add in 350 kg water, liquid polyferric sulfate can be prepared with 20 kg sodium nitrite as catalyst and industrial oxygen as the oxidant at 55℃in 3h. The obtained product can meet the national standards for high efficiency water purifiers. The process can greatly reduce the reaction time and increase the productivity. The reaction is under closed condition, so the environment pollution caused by sodium nitrite greatly reduces. Currently, this process has been applied in actual production of water purifiers.
