Abstract: The effect of the value of pH and core-wall ratio on the property of microcapsules of paraffin/urea-formaldehyde resin was investigated and compared by XRD,particle size analyzer and DSC.The results showed that it would be best to control the value of pH from 2to 3.Because at this scope, the microcapsules will be seldom agglomeration, and the surface of them were relatively smooth. The core-wall ratio of 2∶1was quite well at this experiment.Under this ratio, the major phase-transition temperature of microcapsules was 53.20℃,and encapsulation efficiency was quite well.Microencapsulated phase change material which used urea and melamine obtained good results in the thermal storage properties and surface morphology, and the encapsulation efficiency up to 80.3%.
