Computation of the lateral vibration characteristics of the shafting for hovercraft based on finite element method

Abstract: Based on the shafting with lift fan on the hovercraft, establish a finite element model by using FEM software. The gyroscopic effect on the lateral vibration of the shafting with lift fan on the hovercraft is analyzed. On the base of considering the hull stiffness, the region of resonance speed and blade resonance speed of the shafting is calculated under different bearing stiffness and compared with taking no consideration of the hull stiffness. In accordance with working speed,the conclusion that the lateral vibration of the shafting is in safety is given. At the same time the correction of the model is achieved through comparing the experimental data with the simulation results in the reference. In a sense, it provides technical references for safe operation of the shafting with lift fan on the hovercraft.
