Abstract: In this paper, we analyze key power-saving technologies from the perspective of network hierarchy, access network equipment, and novel network architecture. Based on the above standard and the key technologies of power-saving, we propose a green scheduling mechanism based on network coding in a NG-PON. This mechanism combines various power-saving technologies, improves energy efficiency, and improves network performance. The paper discusses how power-saving technologies are dependent on each other. Interrelations and organic connections of those technologies can provide a flexible, comprehensive way of implementing power-saving technologies.
