Abstract: It is imminent to carry out the eco-friendly operation of reservoir to mitigate the adverse impact of riverine ecosystem with the development of basin hydropower.Based on the summary of worldwide research literature,the paper outlines the definition and basic principles and points out the research focus and existing problems of the eco-friendly operation of reservoir.According to national policy of water resources conservancy in the 21 st century,the paper prospects the direction of the eco-friendly operation of reservoir.
