Improved and optimized control for rotor-side converter of doubly fed induction generator

Abstract: Based on analysis of proportional resonant(PR) controller principle which can realize zero steady-state error control over AC signal of specific frequency in stationary frame and mathematical model of doubly-fed wind power generator, an improved and optimized control strategy of proportional-resonant control for rotor-side converter is proposed. This method transforms active and reactive current component in stationary frame to track the given signal by proportional-resonant controller, which achieves a decoupling control of active and reactive power. Compared with the conventional PI control strategy, the optimized control strategy reduces rotating frame transformation and increases robustness of the control system. A simulation model is established in PSCAD/EMTDC. Validity of the proposed control strategy is verified and it is confirmed that reactive power suppresses grid voltage fluctuation.
