Abstract: An aeroelastic coupling model for aerodynamic foil bearings considering sagging effect of top foil is devel-oped,in which gas film pressure is described with Reynolds equation. The top foil is described with Euler beam ele-ments,and the bump foil is described with easy spring elements. The gas film pressure equation is solved by using fi-nite difference method and Newton-Raphson iterative method. The foil deformation is calculated by using finite ele-ment method, and the convergent solution of aeroelastic coupling is approximated by iterating gas film pressure and gas film thickness .The results show that in the region of high gas film pressure, there is small sag in the flat segment be-tween the two adjacent bumps, while locally pressure field variation in this region.
