Effect of Rubber Powder on the Strength of Fiber-Reinforced Cementitious Composites

Abstract: Cementitious composites can be strengthen and toughen by adding fibers and rubber powder made of waste rubber also has the effect of toughening cementitious composites in the form of aggregates. This paper studies the flexural and compressive strength of polyving akohol fiber- reinforced cementitious composites with partial fiber replaced by different dosage of redispersible latex powder. The results shows that the flexural strength with 0. 5% volume fraction of rubber powder possesses the increase of 24. 3% and compressive strength with 1% rubber powder had the increase of 40. 4%,at the same time,specimens with0. 5% rubber powder highly improves the flexural and compressive strength without reducing the ratio of bending- compressive strength. It can be concluded that fiber- reinforced cementitious composite with appropriate dosage of rubber powder can enhance mechanical properties and be more economic.
