Abstract: A risk assessment method of mechanical supporting system in power grids based on the materials failure mechanism(MSSFM method),is proposed.The advantages of MSSFM method is analyzed from the aspects of model basis and category attributes.The step task and function in each module of the architecture of MSSFM method is presented.And the classification library of mechanical supporting system,failure fault trees and basic event of each component,Boolean synthesis method of system risk probability are established.The two categories,failure analysis of components and risk management of components system,are bridged effectively through a risk assessment example of a strain clamp contact deteriorating failure event.The results show that the risk assessment of mechanical supporting system for power grids can be achieved by the MSSFM method.
