Driving Controller With Energy Feedback for Permanent Magnet Actuator

Abstract: A permanent magnetic actuator driving controller with energy feedback is proposed in this paper. Firstly, according to the characteristic of the driving device—the turn-on time of the IGBT is shortened and the coil inductance will not vary too much when the monostable permanent magnetic actuator breaker with dual coil is opening—the circuit is simplified, and the charging and discharging differential equations are built and the analytical expressionsare given out. The model of the linear change of air gap is presented. The second-order ordinary differential equations are deduced when the inductance changes dramatically in the process of closing. The numerical solutions of equations, the current and voltage curves and energy recovery are obtained through Runge-Kutta method and Matlab. Secondly, the charging time is calculated when reclosing. The capacitance voltage is quickly charged to the permission value and the reliability of the reclosing is improvedby the function of energy feedback which achieves the purpose of saving energy and reducingthe power ofcharger. By measuring the capacitance voltage to control the IGBT turn-on time, the driving device can maintain the stability of the breaker’s mechanical properties. Finally, the performance of the intelligent device is verified in the experiment.
