Transmission Lines Modeling Method Based on Fractional Order Calculus Theory

Abstract: As far, transmission lines uses traditional uniform transmission line and ? type equivalent circuit. One ? type circuit is only equivalent to less than 300 km line. Longer line needs several ? type cascade circuit so this will have lager error. Aim at the problem, the thesis presents the method that uses fractional order calculus to model transmission lines and derives the transfer functions of lines terminated with characteristic impedance. The frequency responses of transmission lines from their fractional order transfer functions are also derived. Simulation results are presented to validate the frequency responses. Based on the simulation results it can be concluded that the derived fractional order transmission line model is capable of modeling a distributed parameter transmission line and describing the distributive features of a distributed parameter transmission line. The model is applied to identify the parameters of the lossy transmission line. The results are accurate and stable. That demonstrates the superiority of this method.
