Abstract: How to improve the accuracy and efficiency of point clouds registration effectively from multiview,eventually,comprehensively apply Terrestrial 3D Laser Scanning Technique into the fields of largescale scenes monitoring is gaining great interest in recently years. With the increasing of point clouds data,conventional registration approaches have the drawbacks of inefficiency and poor accuracy as well as error propagation. This paper presents an orientation method of terrestrial 3D laser scanner( TLS),and it directly sets TLS in target coordinate system according to the Positioning Base. Then,the Control Network based TLS Orientation Method( TLSOM) is presented to adjust the direction of TLS. Moreover,integrated with the Positioning Base,point clouds under target coordinate system are directly obtained without further registration. Meanwhile,the principle and calibration method of the Positioning Base are demonstrated in this paper,and experimental tests illustrate that this method can effectively improve the precision of point clouds. At the same time,the high-accuracy and efficiency are also testified in real data analysis.
