Research on polynomial fitting of GPS leveling based on ridge estimation

Abstract: If the fitting point is out of the control points,the problem of ill-posed easily occurs during the polynomial fitting of GPS leveling. Ridge estimation is introduced to ameliorate the condition of the normal equation and to ensure that the solution is reliable. Different ridge estimates are used for solving an example in this paper. The results show that the L-Curve method is a more reliable and accurate than the least squares,ridge trace,and empirical formula methods while the fitting point distribution is not good.
