GPR wave velocity analysis in the mountainous area of Zhejiang Province

Abstract: Soil strata and graded weathering are attempted to be determined by GPR method in the power transmission line investigation works in the mountainous area,Zhejiang Province. The theoretical calculation formula of GPR wave velocity is too complex and the application condition of simplified formula is not so clear. The relative dielectric constant is one of the most important parameters to calculate the GPR wave velocity,which empirical value range is too wide. In order to present a suitable GPR wave velocity for the mountainous area in Zhejiang Province,the study on the above mention issues is carried out. Through theoretical analysis and experience summary,the graphs of the parameters in wave velocity formula are drawn,and the applicability of simplified formula for the mountainous area in Zhejiang Province is defined.The range value of relative dielectric constant for residual soil is reduced,and the wave velocity for different layers and the method of error analysis are proposed. A case study is presented in this paper.
