Abstract: This paper describes the new occurrence of macroalgae from the black shale facies in the lower part of the Niutitang Formation(Cambrian, upper Diandongian to lower Qiandongian),Jinsha County,Guizhou Province,China. The flora, preserved as carbonized compressions, comprises Zunyiphyton pereleganus Yang et Zhao,1999,Sinocylindra yunnanensis Chen and Erdtmann,1991,and Vendotaenia sp..This is the first report of macroalgae from the Niutitang Formation from the locality outside Zunyi Country.Taxonomically, the new occurrence is broadly similar to the flora described from the equivalent part of the Niutitang Formation in Zunyi County, but it lacks Yuknessia guizhouensis Yang et Zhao,1999and Doushantuophyton. The reason for this taxonomic difference remains unclear, but it may reflect differences in water depth across the shallow-water platform during this timeframe.
