Abstract: Using "near net shape processing"technology of direct extrusion once forming, batch production for cold extrusion of spherical slipper parts of aviation hydraulic pump was realized. By examining the size precision and roughness of the cold extrusion, the technical requirements of IT7 level precision of sphere size and surface roughness Ra0. 4 μm were met. The tests of hardness, metallographic structure, and abrasion resistance etc. for spherical slipper parts produced by cold extrusion and turning were conducted. The results show that compared to turning parts,by using cold extrusion, the surface hardness( tensile strength) is improved by about 35%,the wear resistance is improved by above 60%; the material utilization rate reaches 90% which saves materials by above 50%; and the forming time is reduced from 3. 5 min for each part when turning to 15 s which improves the machining efficiency significantly.
