3D modelling of forecast on flowing yield and flow distribution in a mine site

Abstract: A hydrogeological concept model is developed for a mine site to represent the hydrogeological condition in the study area.A groundwater flow simulation is conducted by the Visual Modflow.The distribution of groundwater flow is predicted and the water discharges,the groundwater depression cone and its size in mining area with different depths is estimated,the effect of mining on groundwater levels,the interaction between groundwater and surface water is studied using the calibrated model.The results show that the maximum area of groundwater depression cone is up to 4.03km2;the flow rate of groundwater discharges in deep tunnel is not sensitive to the rainfall fluctuation;a groundwater watershed existed between reservoir and mine tunnels,which protected the mine tunnels from flooding.The study provided the scientific supports on the management of the groundwater and environmental protection.
