Abstract: This paper reviews the context of the concept "environment" emerging and popular in the transition of Chinese architecture in 1980s,and reveals the implicit transition of the ontological idea on architecture.Four facets,including the tourist architecture in natural landscape,Environmental Psychology—Behavior Study,Environmental Art,the consciousness of "context",are discussed to interpret the complicated interaction between the transition of idea and the design practice/academic research.
