Abstract: Forecasts and estimation regarding the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq made by Chinese experts on international affairs ten years ago,no matter strategic estimation or tactical forecasts, were far from the reality. A study of the theories, facts, logics and methods which underpins these forecasts not only can reflect the academia’s research pathways and defects, but also shed light on some problems in the field of international studies. The chaotic mess of traditional Chinese mindset,Marxist theories and methods as well as Western international relations theories forms the peculiar basis for China’s international studies. In addition, the chaos is further aggravated by the impetuous academic atmosphere and mechanism for encouraging research.
