Abstract: Based on geological and geophysical data, the Paleogene syndepositional fault and its control on sequence archi-tecture of lingshui sag were studied by analyzing the combination features and faulting-activity rate of the fault. The results show that three kinds of frameworks, i. e. , asymmetric graben, symmetric graben and half-graben, were developed individu-ally in the east, middle, and west of lingshui sag. Three kinds of structural paleogeomorphologies, i. e. , up-dip foot slope break belt, down-dip foot slope break belt and gentle slope-break belt, were developed in response to the changes of faulting-activity, which influenced the sequence-infill patterns. Different sequence-infill patterns distributing within tectono-strati-graphic frameworks have characteristic sequence architectures, which will favorably contribute to exploration of potential res-ervoirs and subtle oil pools in deepwater area.
