Insulator Infrared Image Recognition Method Based on Gaussian Scale-space and GHT

Abstract: The status of insulator is important for the stable operation of the transmission line as the number of insulator is large. Aiming at the recognition problem of insulator in the infrared image on site, a method of Gaussian scale-space and GHT was designed, and then a kind of method about insulator's recognition in infrared images based on Gaussian scale-space and GHT was put forward. Firstly, small pieces and noises in images were filtered based on morphological method, and then the edge of image was extracted based on Canny detection operator. Secondly, the Gaussian scale-space of template and the input image were matched based on GHT. Finally insulator was identified according to the characteristic value of the shape of the insulator. The experimental results show that the method can identify the insulator accurately and provide the basis for fault diagnosis of insulator.
