Selection of Vegetables in Floating Beds and a Simulation Study on Purification Effect of Vegatables on Eutrophic Water

Abstract: Wuliangsuhai Lake is the most typical shallow macrophytic lakes in arid region of Inner Mongolia Plateau and has become the most serious eutrophic shallow macrophytic lakes.In order to provide a theoretical and technical support for the ecological restoration of Wuliangsuhai,vegetables in the daily life of local residents were selected to cultivate in floating bed in an orthogonal experiment.The study suggests that:Petroselinum crispumand Spinacia oleraceaare not suitable for cultivating in floating beds,Ipomea aquatica has a stronger absorption capacity and a better purification effect in all the three levels of eutrophic water.Purifying effect of Basella rubra is weaker than Ipomea aquatica.Lactuca sativa var.and Lactuca sativa are more suitable for cultivating in spring and autumn.Lactuca sativa var.has the tolerance to infertile,so it is more suitable for medium eutrophic water purification.Cultivation time should be different according to the nutritional level of the water,in the high nutrient water,cultivation time could be prolonged.This technology may be applied to recover and manage eutrophication of Wuliangsuhai.
