Hot isostatic pressing of W-Ni-Fe heavy alloy powder and sintered material

Abstract: This work studied the strengthening of 93W-Ni-Fe heavy alloy powder and sintered material by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) .The HIP tests were divided into five groups and four heats in different processes .The results show that ,after the HIP , the 93W-Ni-Fe samples get further densification , higher relative density and hardness , and lower dispersity , also the ductility keeps a higher level .It also shows that raising both the temperature and the pressure can improve the strength ,elongation ,per-centage reduction of area of the material ,but the effect of the temperature is more obvious .Comparing the two processes ,the mechanical properties of W-based alloy powder via directly hot isostatic pressing forming are not as good as those of the sintered bar . Although raising the temperature can improve the mechanical properties to some extent , the optimal temperature and pres-sure parameters also need to be further explored .
