Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effects of Quality Control Circle (QCC) activities on the improvement of Self-monitoring Rate of Blood Glucose (SMBG) for the elderly patients with insulin injection. Methods: Increasing SMBG rate in the elderly patients with insulin injection was set as the primary subject of QCC activities. Then the authors investigated the current status, set goal of improvement, analyzed reasons and established countermeasures accordingly. Results: Through QCC activity, SMBG rate increased from 44.23% to 79.80% in the elderly patients with insulin injection (P<0.01). Their SMBG frequency also improved after management (P<0.01). At the same time, the normalization and accuracy of glucose meter use were signiifcantly increased. Conclusion: QCC activities could increase the SMBG rate in the elderly patients with insulin injection, and enhance the normalization and accuracy of glucose meter use. Then the dose and dosage forms could be adjusted accordingly to achieve the best treatment effects.
