Abstract: Objective To understand the prevalence of foodborne pathogenic bacteria and the content of some metallic elements and food additives in one rural market in 2011.Methods Samples were selected from major purchasing of rural department store,wholesale market,supermarket and retail outlet.A total of 50 samples in 5 categories were detected for foodborne pathogens,20 samples in 2 types were detected for some metals and 80 samples in 8 categories were detected for food additives according to the national standard methods.Results The detection rates of Coliform bacteria in food was 13.3%,Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus were not found,the detection rate of metal elements was 53.3%,the detection rate of additives was 47%.The detection rate of some metals and food additives in different sampling points and from different place of production had no significant difference.Conclusion The contamination rates for pathogenic bacteria and the exceeding standard rate for some metals and food additives in one rural market are low,but the management of retail outlet in rural market should be strengthened.
