Influence of Moisture Concentration on Water/Oil Separation inLow Vacuum

Abstract: The flow fields of oil/water/vapor in a vacuum oil purifierwere mathematically modeled,and the equations describing evaporation ofwaterdropletvia phase transitionwere formulated.The influence of the water concentration on the axial dehydration rate and volume fraction distributions of oil,water,and vapor was analytically investigated.The results show that the initial moisture concentration has a major dynamic impact on the dehydration rate and volume fraction distributions ofwater and oil.Forexample,as the moisture concentration increases,the volume fraction distribution of oil decreases in axial direction but changes in a decrease-increase mode in radial direction; the axial volume fraction distribution of moisture non-linearly increases; and the dehydration efficiency changes in a mode of rapid decrease and slow increase,maximized inside the separation plate and minimized at a moisture concentration of 5%.
