Abstract: The one-pot synthesis of silver nanoparticles has been achieved by using gelatin as the stabilizer and reducing agent, with high peroxidase-like catalytic activity and high stability. The common enzyme- catalysis reaction system has been employed to investigate the catalysis properties and the determination of related Michaelis constant of the as-prepared silver nanoparticles. Results show that the mimic enzyme could not only exhibit high catalytic activities that are comparable to the protein peroxidase, but also high storage stabilization under the room temperature owing to the unique property of sol-gel transition of gelatin matrix. In addition, with the gelatin-matrix shells, silver nanoparticles could possess high bio-affinity and easy functionalization or modification and labeling. Such a mimic enzyme holds great promise of wide applications in the fields of enzyme-catalytic reaction system and the enzymebased sensing analysis.
