Abstract: As tension-compression asymmetry has an important effect on the forming of magnesium alloy, how to reduce asymmetry is one of the main subjects of current research. Mechanism produced by tension-compression asymmetry was summarized. The effects of grain size, load direction, heat treatment, alloy element and the process parameters like such as temperature and strain rate on the tension-compression asymmetry were expounded to find a simple and effective method and means of weakening the tension-compression asymmetry. Problems and the development trend of tension-compression asymmetry of magnesium alloy were presented.
