Infl uence of linear polycarboxylate superplasticizer on property of building gypsum

Abstract: Three kinds of linear polycarboxylate were synthesized by free radical polymerization, polyacrylate Sodium(PC-1), acrylic acid-co-styrene sulfonate(PC-2) and acrylic acid-co-dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride copolymer(PC-3). The effects of thsese copolymers on property of building gypsum were studied compared with comb-like polycarboxylate-type(PC) and FDN. The results indicated that PC-2 shows the best property on water-reducing rate, achieved 23% at the dosage of 0.3wt.%. When the dosage of PC-2 was 0.3wt.%, the gypsum paste shows excellent slump retention achieved 300 min, the water-absorption rate at 2h of gypsum test block achieved 16.2%, 11% lower than the blank, the dry bending and compressive strength of gypsum test block enhanced 33%, 32% than the blank respectively, the softening coeffi cient of gypsum test block achieved 0.37, 0.11 higher than the blank. This shows that the capability of set-retarding and water-reducing of PC-2 was excellent on building gypsum system.
